i am really depressed right now. a lot is going on with my daughter. her behavior is getting worse. she "flipped out" in front of the shrink and now he says she is definetly not autistic (he wasnt the one to diagnose her, someone in his office was), and that he sees bipolar in her but cant diagnose itlegally  until btwn the ages of 11-18. i am heartbroken and upset. i dont want to go into details about what happened but she is paying the consequences for her misbehavior, given to her by the dr, not us. he's doubled her meds and there's little change. now he's on vacation. blah. and i have had a really bad week and we had extra money so we ate out for lunch and dinner some days, i havent been doing anything i am supposed to and i've gained 7 lbs this week. i am having a hard time coping with everything that's going on and know i need to take it minute by minute but sheesh, this is so hard. im down more pants sizes though which is so exciting and can buy shirts at walmart again. YAY!

I am so sorry to hear of your recent issues with your daughter. It must be hard to concentrate on yourself when your daughter is struggling. If you want to be around to help her you NEED to concentrate on yourself somewhat. If you must eat out, make smart choices on what you order. You can do this...it will take a lot of work on your part but you can do it! Just keep thinking how great it is to shop at Walmart for clothes and let that be your motivation. Good Luck.

Dealing with a loved one who has a mental illness can be very stressful. Sometimes staying in our daily routine can cause less stress for us. Do your best to stay on track with your weight loss. Exercise is a great stress reliever. Maybe your daughter would be interested in exercising with mom and that might help her with her stress as well. Good luck to you!

thanks for all the advice and support. you are both right. sometimes she does exercise with me and my walking tapes but she gets pooped out or distracted, not sure which. plus she has chronic leg pain and we're not sure why yet.  i need to get into a routine again. and i felt awesome since i lost 40 lbs but it comes back on super fast. i went from almost 50 lbs lost to about 40 again. but if i dont concentrate on this goal and stuff she isnt going to have a mom when shes older. i have too many health problems, etc. i guess i think so negative enough that i didn't even think about the dying thing. really opens my eyes...

Sara, I was tasting things that I shouldn't be eating too.  Had a chat with my dietician.  She explained it this way "you have worked to hard to get to the point that you are at.  You can not stress NOT afford to take in the excess calories."  We each need to have the truth placed squarely between in front of our faces.  This frank chat with her has made a difference and I no longer  nibble at the unnecessary things.  Carbs are such a temptation for me.  I am back on "track" and behaving myself again.  We can do this together.

Sorry that your daughter is giving you trouble.  I pray that the medication changes are successful.  Exercise is such a good stress reliever for me, also gives me something else to focus on than my trigger foods.  Fresh air and a change of scenery can make a huge difference.

Focus on healthier selections if you eat out, know that is is more economical and healthier to prepare foods at home.  Save the money you would have spent on eating out for something fun, manicure, new pair of slacks when you lose enough that the current ones are falling off.  Start a jar for a big purchase, vacation that you will give yourself as a reward for your own good behavior.  You can do this.  You have proved it by losing the 50#, do not let your slip up defeat you.  Get back on track and leading the healthiest life you can.  Hugs

hey Lady... Hugs and love coming your way. It must be very difficult dealing with the emotional termoil your daughter is in. I hope they can pinpoint the cause and a better solution very soon. You both need the relief..I know!

Do you get my newsletter? This weeks addresses mindset, and how important it is to us. What comes out way in life will come our way no matter what. How we choose to cope is the key to geting through it in the best possible way. We cannot change what happens that is outside of our control, but we can change how we deal with it and handle it. It is not easy, I know...but you must get your mindset where it needs to be and know that by taking care of YOU in the face of everything else, you will have the best outcome in so many ways. Even in ways you may not even realize right now.

Stay strong and comitted. you have worked much too hard to let all the old food behaviors and damage come back full force. OIt know it is hard, but you can do it, and must do it.. not only for your daughter...but for you. The more stress that is removed from your life (extra weight and health issues) the better you can handle the rest.

Hello, my name is Marjeano, (Marla) from New York.  I read your message to one of your buddy's and it realy fit with my life right now. It took me awhile to decide to have the Gastric By-Pass surgery and we are all set for Oct. 5th.  I would love to be apart of this buddy group. For some reason  where I live they don't have  group for people like us, and for what you offer in a group session.I plan to be apart of the chat on Monday nights. So I ook forward to your next powerful message.      Thank You!

Thank you maria! I look forward to having you as a part of our group and family here! I look forward to meeting you in chat! My area offered nothing for support either..had to drive an hour each way, so I took a bcnh of training and started my own live wls support group, became a certified life coach with extra training for bariatrics (and am now a bariatric success coach), and continue to take training to increase my knowledge and ability to help others.
Your surgery is sooo close, and this time will fly by! Take advantage of it to ask anything you can think of and learn all you can to help ensure you lifelong success!
You can sign up for my free wls success newsletter at www.cwlss.com the sign up form is on the right side of the page. I typically send them once a week.
Welcome to our group!
Hugs!!!
